Who is this Centurion? • A high ranking soldier who was in charge of 100 men. • Was it his garrison that was charged with the entire crucifixion proceedings? • Was it his detail that arranged all the scourging? The Trial before Pilate? • Was it his men that dug the post hole for the cross; built the cross beam. • Was he observing the men nail Jesus’ hands and feet to the cross? • He obviously heard all the words of Christ before his death and then was convinced that his accusers were wrong?

  3. What he saw and heard convinced him? I. The Man: Mark 15:22-39 • The Crucifying Process: (v.24,25) • The Inscription: ‘THE KING’ (v.26) • The ill treatment: (v.29-31)

  4. What he saw and heard convinced him? II. The Circumstances: • Was it the conviction of the Darkness: (v.33) • Was it the final statements of God’s forsaking His Son? (v.34) • Was it the mistaken identity? (v.35,36)

What he saw and heard convinced him? • THE TESTIMONY OF THE CRIMINALS: Luke 15:39-50 The comments of the criminals: (v.39-43) In sarcasm, “if you are the Christ, save yourself and us” In sincerity: “Remember Me” • Fear God, (2) Just condemnation, (3) Justice for crimes committed, (4) Jesus innocent, ‘he has done nothing wrong. (5) Simple Request: “Lord, Remember Me.” (6) Today, you will be with me in Paradise.

  6. Are you convinced? • All the events of your life is to bring you into relationship with the God of all creation through His Son, Jesus Christ. • You must bear the responsibility of your sin being the reason Jesus died on the cross. 3. You must join the Roman Centurion in declaring, “Truly the Man was the Son of God” (Gentiles)
