  2. The Education Grant Programme • Started in 2004 with 20students • To enable capable, poor students to achieve their goals and escape poverty • 9 years later - 252 students • We have 87 sponsors. But we need more

  3. Our students come from.. Towns and Villages from many areas of Sri Lanka Anuradhapura, Colombo, Galle, Gampola, Kandy, Hambanthota, Kurulubedda, Matale, Matara, Polonnaruwa, Ratnapura, Suriyawewa, Tissamaharamaya and Vavunia.

  4. 2012-2013 academic year • 38 sat for GCE AL. • 1 student entered the faculty of engineering, • 1 faculty of Arts • 1 faculty of commerce

  5. If not for your support... • Without a grant, these children may not have stayed in school until A/L’s. • Since 2004, 35+ students have entered university or other forms of higher education

  9. How do we select children? • Be in full-time education in a school in Sri-Lanka • Family background & financial status • Recommendation from Head teacher or Class Teacher • Helasarana Sri Lanka committee approval • Uk team allocate students to sponsors

  10. How do we monitor this project? • The Sri Lanka team pay 2 visit /year to schools • submission of yearly progress reports • Letters from students to sponsors

  11. Our role in UK UK team meet once every three months • Bank statements, • New sponsors • New students • Students who have left • Update database & report to SL

  12. How much does it cost? A school child- Rs. 1000 (£5.00)/month A University student Rs. 1500 (£7.50)/month Please turn your compassion into action. Please join us today.

  14. How to sponsor a child • Contact the coordinators • Cost - £5.00/ month by standing order (£ 7.50 for a university student) • One off payment of £60/ year
