Specifics about my learning. • I write down one thing every day about what I have learned and what that day did to further my field learning. • The experience has helped me significantly since there is so little we actually see when engineering, this has at least shown me some of my apparatus and helped me learn the production process.

  3. About Southwestern Energy • Harold Korell came on as the COO in 1997 and later took over as CEO in 1998. • They went through a couple tough lawsuits that made the company learn that adversity exposes character. • Because of the success in Overton, Texas, the company could lease the Fayetteville. • Now, the Fayetteville provides over 2% of the nation’s natural gas. • Company grows “through the drill bit.” meaning that they do not invest in other assets. They grow through the increase of their own production.

  4. Maintenance • In the maintenance department of Production, I have learned a lot about the processes carried out in the continuation of a well’s life. • I have worked with transducers, compressors, chemical tanks (foamer and de-foamer), pressure tests and laying pipe when needed.

  5. Simultaneous Operations • This “Sim-Ops” portion of the production of an existing well is essentially a safety department. • The objective of Sim-Ops is to prevent the blowouts of existing wells when drilling new wells on the same pad as an existing well. • Installed “heavy Iron” that was rated for higher psi for safety reasons. Also installed three valve actuators that were controlled by hydraulics for a well shut-off in blow-out situations.

  6. Roustabout • A lot of hard work and long hours in the field. • Majority of the time is spent setting tanks, running pipe from the well head to the separators, digging the dump-line and fabrications. • This department takes care of getting the well ready for production and maintenance.

  7. Measurement • This department was mainly electrical technicians that performed tasks that included wiring tanks and separators, hooking up and wiring solar panels to radios, etc. • Trouble shooting and side by side work with engineers made this job the most interesting in my opinion.

  8. Problems and Suggestions • Transducers on top of a direct line of flow could be considered a blow out hazard. This could be solved by replacing this with a bull plug and moving the transducer down and out of the line of direct high pressure flow. • Efficiency. We need to make less errands with tools and equipment and spend more time at the well heads putting those in place when we can at the time of the equipment's arrival.
