NOAA Weather Wire Service (NWWS) • Legacy Status (NWWS-1) – Available through April 2015 • C-Band Satellite subscription (CSC provided) • Internet Open Interface sign-up or maintenance subscription (CSC provided) • The International Justice and Public Safety Network (Nlets) [States Law Enforcement and Emergency Management] (CSC provided) • Software Parser (CSC, Marta, etc..)

  3. NWWS-1 Current Legacy Configuration

  4. NWS Enterprise Architecture Solution (NWWS-2; replaces CSC NWWS leased service) • SBN/NOAAPORT Satellite • Channel 201 (NWWS Products only) Developmental- Ready for Operations • “Open Interface” via NWS Internet Dissemination System (NIDS) • Java Chatroom/XMPP • Nlets(The International Justice and Public Safety Network) • Custom filtered service for NWWS-2 products • End User Client (EUC) software with individual and dual ingest parsing function to meet “high” availability requirements; • “Open Interface” (OI) • SBN/NOAAPORT Channel 201 • OI and SBN

  6. NWWS-2 Planned Schedule Channel 201* Planned Operational NWWS-2 Phase 2 Operational Test & Evaluation Public Service Transition, Review and Comment Period * Developmental - Ready for Operation Apr Oct Nov Dec Jan Feb Mar 2015 2014

  7. NOAA Weather Wire Service (NWWS) • Current Issues being worked: • Available set of products on dissemination paths. • SBN/NOAAPORT-NIDS • NWSTG-NIDS • AWIPS WAN – NIDS • Handling of Tsunami products • Differences in product formats (WMO, XMPP, SBN/NOAAPORT Packet) • SBN/NOAAPORT Narrowband to Broadband Expansion impact on 1.8m dish configuration. • Specification compliance issue/situation

  8. NOAA Weather Wire Service (NWWS) • Satellite Product Stream Findings: • For high availability BOTH SBN/NOAAPORT and Open Interface are required. All messages are captured regardless of format issues. • 1.8m dish reception of SBN/NOAAPORT PID 201 will have errors and missed messages. • Interference is from an adjacent satellite. • Discussions being held with Raytheon and GlobeComm on possible mitigations for using 1.8m dishes. • 2.4m dish reception of SBN/NOAAPORT PID 201 - Good

  9. NWS Dissemination Services * Developmental – Ready for Operations
