Direct Object Pronouns. In English the direct object is an object that receives the direct action from the verb Ex: I wash the table. In this sentence your direct object is the table, it receives the action of the verb, the table is what it being cleaned by me.

In English the direct object is an object that receives the direct action from the verb • Ex: I wash the table. • In this sentence your direct object is the table, it receives the action of the verb, the table is what it being cleaned by me. • Now you have to replace the direct object (the table) with a direct object pronoun (it) • The sentence now looks like this: I wash it. The Direct Object

  3. A direct object pronoun prevents us from continuously repeating the direct object • Ex: I wash the table. I set the table and eat at the table. • A direct object pronoun turns the sentence into I wash the table. I set it and eat at it. Why do we use a direct object pronoun?

Yolavo la mesa • The direct object is the table so we insert a direct object pronoun in place of la mesa. • We use la as the object pronoun because la mesa is feminine and singular • You must place the direct object pronoun in front of the active conjugated verb • The sentence should now look like this: Yo la lavo. When you have two verbs you can always put it directly in front of the conjugated Ex: Yo lo voy a limpiar • However, now that you have two verbs you have two different options • You can attach the pronoun to the end of an infinitive or a present participle Ex: Yovoy a limpiarlo What to do when you have two verbs
