  1. Welcome To The Services Of The Dunlap church of Christ We Are Delighted You Are Here!

  2. Welcome To The Services Of The Dunlap church of Christ If You Have Questions, Just Ask!

  3. Jeremiah 6:10-19 “To whom shall I speak, and give warning, that they may hear? behold, their ear isuncircumcised, and they cannot hearken: behold, the word of the LORD is unto them a reproach; they have no delight in it.”

  4. (11) Therefore I am full of the fury of the LORD; I am weary with holding in: I will pour it out upon the children abroad, and upon the assembly of young men together: for even the husband with the wife shall be taken, the aged with him that is full of days.”

  5. (12) And their houses shall be turned unto others, with their fields and wives together: for I will stretch out my hand upon the inhabitants of the land, saith the LORD.”

  6. (13) For from the least of them even unto the greatest of them every one is given to covetousness; and from the prophet even unto the priest every one dealeth falsely. (14) They have healed also the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace.”

  7. (15) Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? nay, they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush: therefore they shall fall among them that fall: at the time that I visit them they shall be cast down, saith the LORD.

  8. (16) Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.”

  9. (17) Also I set watchmen over you, saying, Hearken to the sound of the trumpet. But they said, We will not hearken. (18) Therefore hear, ye nations, and know, O congregation, what is among them.”

  10. (19) Hear, O earth: behold, I will bring evil upon this people, even the fruit of their thoughts, because they have not hearkened unto my words, nor to my law, but rejected it.”

  11. One Thing Leads To Another “The Snowball Effect” • When something small grows into something large. • This has happened in the spiritual lives of people and it can happen to us today if we aren’t careful. • Moral sins often lead to a shipwrecked faith and Jeremiah shows us how this happens.

  12. The Existence Of Moral Sin Jeremiah 26-28 –Their moral failures • Deceit that brought riches, abundance while others do without, no compassion for the helpless. • These are not “unthinkable acts,” but can be and are commonly practiced if careful attention is not given. • Note how this moral failure leads to the destruction of one’s faith.

  13. When One Practices Immorality, He Doesn’t Love The Truth Jeremiah 6:10 “the word of the LORD is unto them a reproach; they have no delight in it.” • II Thessalonians 2:10-12 • We must love the truth above all things (John 8:32).

  14. When One Doesn’t Love The Truth, He Opens Himself To Error When one rejects the truth, he by default, embraces error. Jeremiah 6:14 “They have healed also the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace.” Jeremiah 5:30-31 “A wonderful and horrible thing is committed in the land; (31) The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means; and my people love to have it so: and what will ye do in the end thereof?”

  15. When One Opens Himself To Error, He Sears His Conscience • Jeremiah 6:15 “Were the ashamed when they had committed abomination? nay, they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush: therefore they shall fall among them that fall: at the time that I visit them they shall be cast down, saith the LORD.”

  16. When One’s Sears His Conscience, One Has Destroyed Himself • Jeremiah 6:16-19 • When the judgment of God comes upon us, we have no one to blame but ourselves.

  17. Faith and Morals Our morality will be consistent with our faith. a. Our morals will either rise to the level of our faith, b. Or our faith will lower itself to the level of our morals.

  18. The Simple Plan • HEAR –Rom.10:17; Jno.20:30,31 • BELIEVE –John 8:24; Hebrews 11:6 • REPENT –Luke 13:3; Acts 17:30,31 • CONFESS –Romans 10:10; Acts 8:37 • BE BAPTIZED –Mk.16:16; Acts 22:16 • ADDED TO CHURCH (Acts 2:41,47)

  19. Remain Faithful I Peter 2:2; II Peter 3:18 Revelation 2:10 Romans 12:1-2; I John 1:7 Acts 8:22; James 5:16
