History • Spring 2008 - President and campus community created a shared vision and core values • Fall 2008 – Provost and Academic Senate launched a campus wide planning process • Spring 2009 – Academic Senate approved Academic Strategic Plan • June 2009 - President approved Senate recommendation to form University Strategic Planning Committee

  3. Process • Second round of consultation • First draft of the plan was shared with the campus community in November 2009

  4. Process Synthesis of Academic Strategic Plan and Divisional Plans Alignment with university’s Core Values A set of eight goals and with objectives

  5. Goal 1 • A Student Population Aligned with the Academic Master Plan • Focus on balancing quality and access

  6. Goal 2 • A Learning Organization Enhanced by a Culture of Evidence, Academic Excellence and Scholarship • Strengthening opportunities for student learning • Assessment of learning outcomes

  7. Goal 3 • Student Success through an Engaging Campus Experience • Efforts to facilitate retention and graduation • Focus on programs that contribute to student success

  8. Goal 4 • Excellence in our Faculty and Staff • Emphasis on faculty as teacher-scholars • Emphasis on staff development

  9. Goal 5 • Engagement with the Geographic Region and Beyond • Community based learning activities • Providing scholarly expertise to the local region

  10. Goal 6 • A Diverse, Global Perspective • Emphasis on providing global learning and scholarship activities for students and faculty • Increasing diversity of faculty, staff and students

  11. Goal 7 • A Campus Preserved and Enhanced for Future Generations • Becoming a leader in environmental stewardship through focus on infrastructure, processes and curriculum

  12. Goal 8 • Financial Resources to Ensure Educational Excellence • Achieve financial sustainability through comprehensive campaign, grant efforts, public-private partnerships
