  1. TRANSPORTATION PROCEDURES

  2. WHY DO WE DO THIS? • Child safety is our top priority • Ensures that each child is picked up by a proper parent or guardian every time • Gives us the chance to interact one-on-one with each child every day • Allows us to check in with both kids and parents about any questions or concerns • Helps keep the process organized and efficient • Lots of people coming and going in a very small space

  3. WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT? • Issued a yellow card in your registration packet • Write your child’s name on it legibly • Place it on your dashboard so it can be read by an officer from outside the vehicle • A yellow card with your child’s name on it needs to be present each day of camp in order to pick up your child • If someone else will be picking up your child during camp, ensure that you give them your child’s yellow card • Extra yellow cards are available upon request

  4. DROPPING OFF A CHILD • Pull up along the curb to the first available space • Keep traffic flowing – don’t double park!

  5. PICKING UP A CHILD • During busy times, traffic will line up along Lakeside Drive • Please don’t block the driveways so traffic can keep moving

  6. PICKING UP A CHILD • Wait in line until an officer assigns you a number (1-5) • Park along the curb next to your number • The officer will read the names off your yellow cards over the PA

  7. PICKING UP A CHILD • Officers will assist your children with getting into the vehicle and buckling into seatbelts/car seats to keep traffic flowing smoothly

  8. KEEP IT EFFICIENT • Parents need to stay in their cars during the pick-up and drop-off process • Apply sunscreen, gather supplies, and give hugs & kisses before you get to the school • Leave as a group • Wait to drive away from your number until the numbers in front of you start to move • Put the car seat on the right (passenger) side of the car if possible to speed up the process for officers buckling kids in

  9. WHAT IF WE WALK? • Parents who walk with their children will need to wait in line next to the officer with the PA to have the child’s name called • Those children will be asked to report to the sidewalk instead of to a number (1-5)

  10. THANK YOU! • We know that this process can be confusing at first, but we appreciate your cooperation in ensuring that your kids stay safe and have fun during Safety Village!
