Key Dates to Remember…. • Event Date: Week 13, Wednesday 12-04-2017 • (6-10 pm) • Personal Branding and Networking Workshop for STePS students – registration due: 20th Feb 2017 • Project Titles and Abstracts - Due: 24th Feb 2017 • Exhibitor/User Data – Due: 28th Feb 2017 • Promotional/marketing material – Due: one week before the event date. (5th Apr 2017) • Note: You can add project title, abstract and exhibitor data only after your project team data is added to the system by your course professor. This will be done latest by 17th Feb.

  4. STePS: Workflow Your lecturer(s), peers, other students and external guests will be grading your projects. How these other grades affect your project grade depends on your lecturer’s policy. These other grades are used to determine prize winners per class. You will also be required to grade projects outside of your class. • 3.00pm – Poster/Demo Setup • 5.30pm – Registration Starts • 6.00pm Poster Session Starts • 6:45pm – Catering Opens Exhibitors, Faculty and registered Guests • 8:50pm - Last Call for Votes • 9:00pm – Closing Ceremony start. Talks by Industry, Alumni and Prize presentation • 10:00pm – End of STePS. Take down display equipment, posters. NEW • Best project from every course will get a chance to present their work to the audience at the closing ceremony. • Groups will be trained for personal branding, presentation and networking skills. • Support for Commercialisation of suitable projects.

  5. Peer-grading : Voting Peer grading is simple. • Select top 3 projects from a list of projects in each course • Give freeform text comments. • Access the voting form through your laptop/mobile or the PCs at voting kiosk Your lecturer may require you to peer-grade your own classmates as well. Some industry participants may also give fine-grained comments similar to your lecturer.

  6. Sample Voting Form • - Enter the Voter ID Token • Select three top projects in this module. You can vote for projects in multiple modules. • If you re-enter your vote for any module (using your Voter ID Token), existing data will be overwritten

  7. Prizes • The top teams (2 or 3) for classes with 3 or more projects will receive a prizes and certificates Prizes may be corporate-sponsored. • The number of top teams selected per course will be decided based on the class size or total number of teams in the class. • Prizes will be awarded during the closing ceremony. Please make sure at least two team members are in SR1 during the closing.

  8. Industry participation Industry partners will be coming to STePS, both as sponsors and as participants in peer-grading • They may be looking for potential hires or interns • They may be interested in licensing or taking your project ideas to the next level • They are interested in seeing you work in your native element and not in an formal interview setting

  10. Presentation Skills • Online short video lecture on poster design and presentation skills will be conducted by UG office. • Each member of the group is recommended to view this online video lecture.

  11. Project Titles and Abstracts By 24th Feb 2017, we will need 100-word abstracts about your projects (maximum 100 words). These are to help participants find out which projects they are interested in talking to. Do include: • A description of the problem • A description of what your project does to solve it • An indication of who might be interested in your project

Due: 24th Feb 2017 Project Titles and Abstractssteps.comp.nus.edu.sg • Immediately after your professor inputs your name, email and project group number, you will receive an email invitation from the STePS system to enter Title and Abstract. • Login using the userid/password provided in email invitation from [STEPS-SOC] steps@comp.nus.edu.sg • Enter your current Tile/Abstract immediately. You can amend it until the end of Week 10. • Following slides, show the screen shots to access your course and projects……

Completing Exhibitor Datasteps.comp.nus.edu.sg • Students and professors from all participating courses should enter the required “Exhibitor Data” in the STePS System • Additional data required includes, your mobile number (to SMS voter ID), matric number (for verification) and food preference (Veg or Non-Veg). • Food catered for STePS event will be halal Due: 28th Feb 2017

  18. Completing Exhibitor Dataisteps.comp.nus.edu.sg • Select ‘Settings’ to update exhibitor data. NB:- Change the default password upon first login through the settings menu. Due: 10th Oct 2016

  20. Poster Printing • Poster Size: A1 • One copy per group can be printed free of charge from SoC technical Services. • Additional copies cost $12 per poster (@ SoC technical Services). • Bring high resolution (at least 300 dpi) pdf or ppt for printing.

  21. Promotional/marketing materials • By the end of Week 12of the semester, please upload the following promotional materials for your project to steps.comp.nus.edu.sg. • Copy of your POSTER • 1 min marketing/promotional video clip • We need a short (max. 1 min) video clip of each project (to promote the application/product). The format should be MP4 (with good resolution for big screens). These clips will be used to build a Video montage to be displayed in BIG screens at the event venue.

  22. Promotional/marketing materials • You are responsible to maintain valid project related data at the STePS site for your project. • Please don’t add any irrelevant/problematic images/videos/url links as promotional material for your project. • This will be strictly monitored by your course professor and necessary actions will be taken if irrelevant/problematic data are found.

  23. STePS is a Public Event • PUBLIC EVENT:-  STePS is a public event and your picture and presence may be recorded and made public. If you are not comfortable with that, please let your Lecturer know. • DRESS CODE:-  many external guests will be attending STePS. Though there is no dress code, please try to be in business professional/formal. [If your course do not have a common colour code, white colour shirt/t-shirt/tops is recommended for students and lecturers of all participating courses!] 

  24. Registration for STePS • Members (students and professors) of participating classes will be automatically registered& checked-in for the event based on the ‘Exhibitor/User Data’ provided by you in STePS system (steps.comp.nus.edu.sg). • Food coupons, voter-id and other registration packs for the participating classes will be distributed through the course lecturer(s) ahead of the event.
