  2. LEWIS AND CLARKLuis and Clark spent the first winter of their expedition in present day north Dakota with the Mandan Indians. The point of their expedition was to find out if there was a NW passage and to see what the land looked like before they bought it (Louisiana Purchase).

  3. TEXAS INDEPENDANCEHowStuffWorks Videos "Lone Star Legacy: The Battle at San Jacinto“At the battle of San Jacinto the Texans seeked revenge upon the Mexicans because of the Alamo. They defeated the Mexicans and captured Santa Anna. They forced Santa Anna to sign over Texas's independence.

  4. THE ALAMOThe Alamo was when the Mexicans surprisingly attacked and killed all of the Texans. This made the Texans angry and they attacked back in the battle of San Jacinto. giving us Texas. Battle of the Alamo

  5. CALIFORNIA GOLD RUSHSlater's Mill is an important stop on this tripp because a lot of the people from the east traveled to the west to California for the gold rush and this was one of the most used mills.

  6. THE OREGON TRAILOn the left is the Oregon trail. The right is the destination of the Oregon trail. This is an important stop because Washington, Oregon, California, Nevada, Idaho and Utah would probably not be a part of the United states if it was not for the Oregon trail.

  7. INDIAN REMOVALThe rapidly-growing United States expanded into the lower South and white settlers faced what they considered an obstacle. This area was home to the Cherokee, Creek, Choctaw, Chickasaw and Seminole nations. The place we will be stopping at is Georgia. We will stop here because this is the place the Indians refused to leave.

  8. THE PORTS700 Americans lived in California and every year more people traveled to the west. At this time the Mexicans owned California and we offered to by it several times. Many people were eager to control the San Diego and San Francisco ports
