  2. Online Learning is who we are and what we do. Since our founding in 1992, we’ve become the go-to source for everything related to online learning. And now, it is reflected in our name.

  5. Originally funded by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, the Online Learning Consortium is now a non-profit, 501(c)(3) member-sustained organization. We’ve come a long way. The organization’s reach and impact have grown significantly since it was first conceived in 1992. More than two decades later, we’re a self-sustaining member-driven organization with global reach and impact.

  6. Key milestones along the way. Sloan-C incorporates as a non-profit, 501(c)3 Alfred P. Sloan Foundation establishes the Sloan Consortium Inaugural issue of the Journal of Asynchronous Learning Networks First Asynchronous Learning Networks Conference Quality Scorecard introduced, establishing criteria for excellence for online learning programs Sloan-C becomes the Online Learning Consortium (OLC) Sloan-C Institute established, providing online learning workshops and webinars Quality framework established:  The Five Pillars of Quality Online Education IELOL blended-learning leadership program introduced by Penn State and Sloan-C

The Online Learning Consortium is the leading professional organization devoted to advancing quality online learning providing professional development, instruction, best practice publications and guidance to educators, online learning professionals, and organizations around the world.
