  2. Resources • Capital Resources - money, machines, and equipment used to produce goods and services.

  3. Resources • Human Resources – all human labor that is required to produce something • Factory workers; farmers; etc.

  4. Resources • Natural Resources - materials in natural environment that people value and use to satisfy their needs. • Ex: Water, gold, soil, uranium

  5. Resources • Renewable Resources - natural resources that are constantly replaced by the environment. • Ex: soil, water, trees

  6. Resources • Nonrenewable Resources - natural resources that can not be replaced once it is used. • Ex: Gold, copper, uranium, oil

  7. Resources • Fossil Fuels - resources formed from the remains of ancient plants and animals. • Ex: Coal, oil, natural gas.

  8. Energy • Nuclear Energy - Produced by fission (the splitting of uranium atoms in a nuclear reactor to release their stored energy)

  9. Energy • Water Power – Hydroelectricity; using power of driven or fallen water to power turbines which produce electricity. • Ex: Dams

  10. Energy • Geothermal Energy - using underground heat… magma heats underground water which creates steam on the surface that is captured by the surface machines then transmitted through power lines.

  11. Energy • Solar energy - Energy that is produced by the sun using large solar panels.
