  1. Handling an objection Weicheng: Jin, how can you say that we should improve or even broaden our cooperation with BP? The Deepwater Horizon accident was a huge disaster and showed that the company isn’t responsible and that they don’t know how to manage their contractors. Jin: • Although I agree that the Deepwater incident showed that BP needed to reform its safety and risk approach, they have, in fact, done so. • That’s why I’d like to discuss the CEO’s comments and the implications for us at CNPC.

  2. Handling a question Yiqiang: Speaking of risk, I know that BP, the U.S. Government, and others are still studying the Deepwater Horizon disaster. But, don’t we already know some of its causes? Jin: • You’re right, and the CEO mentioned that, in part, the failure was due to the improper cementing of the pipe in the well, inadequate interpretation of pressure tests, and the malfunctioning of the blow-out preventer on the seabed. • Now let’s move on to how BP has used what it’s learned from this incident to reform its approach to safety and risk.
