  3. First Clue even before you click • Look at the DOMAIN NAME: • In the URL address the initials AFTER the dot give a clue as to what type of publisher it is: • Which are the best to use for research…the most reliable

  4. Reliable Domain names • .edu • .gov • .mil

  5. Other terminology to know Coverage -- Is the subject covered extensively enough for research purposes? Are statements supported? is the writing all correct? Authority –see if the author is an expert on the subject they are discussing (or writing about)

  8. In conclusion • Why do we need to evaluate websites? • Because….. • Not everything on the web is true. • Some websites work hard to fool us…Spoof sites, hate sites, biased sites, sites trying to sell their products…. Caveat emptor ~ Let the buyer beware
