In technology education, SAFETY is regarded as essential for at least two reasons. • #1 – The natural concern for people’s welfare. • #2 – Financial.
Safety is of prime importance in the operation of all the power tools used in the technology education laboratory. • Using them properly for the job intended is important. • Being safety conscious and using them safely is essential. • Serious accidents generally do not occur when safety procedures are followed.
Dressing for SAFETY
Wear safety glasses at all times! • Avoid loose fitting clothing that may get caught in the moving parts of power tools. • Wear closed-toe shoes (no flip flops or heels) • Keep long hair secured. • Remove neck ties, rings, wrist watches, neck chains and all other jewelry.
Cleaning for SAFETY
• Keep floor clear of tools, materials and other debris that could cause slip and fall. • Dispose of trash and debris in the approved container. • It is YOUR job to clean up, not the teachers
