  2. Hadley’s Mission The mission of our school is to promote independent living through lifelong, distance education programs for people who are blind or visually impaired, their families and blindness service providers. William A. Hadley

  7. Adult Continuing Education Who Can Enroll? We invite you to apply for enrollment if: • You are age 14 or older and • You are blind or meet vision eligibility requirements and • You can understand courses written in English. The Hadley School for the Blind

  8. Adult Continuing Education Why Enroll? • Learn to read and write braille • Adjust to life after vision loss • Enhance independent living skills • Explore enriching activities • Improve employability and business skills • Discover the joys of lifelong learning The Hadley School for the Blind

  9. High School Program Who Can Enroll? We invite you to apply for enrollment if: • You are age 14 or older and • You are blind or meet vision eligibility requirements and • You are a U.S. resident and • You can understand courses written in English (at the high school level.) The Hadley School for the Blind

  10. High School Program Why Enroll? • Transfer high school credits to a local school • Earn a high school diploma • Take blindness-specific courses that are not always available locally • Take courses in accessible media • Discover the joys of lifelong learning The Hadley School for the Blind

  11. Family Education Program Who Can Enroll? We invite you to apply for enrollment if: • You are a parent or grandparent of a blind or visually impaired child or • You are a spouse, adult daughter or son, or adult sibling of a blind or visually impaired adult and • You can understand courses written in English.   12. Family Education Program Why Enroll? • Learn to read and write braille • Foster the development of a child with a visual impairment • Support your family member’s adjustment to vision loss The Hadley School for the Blind

We invite you to apply for enrollment if: • You are a professional, volunteer or service provider who currently works with visually impaired individuals and • You can understand courses written in English.   14. The Hadley School for Professional Studies Why Enroll? • Build skills to work more effectively with your clients or students • Familiarize yourself with Hadley’s distance education courses • Earn Continuing Education Units (CEUs) • ACVREP and CRCC hours, too! The Hadley School for the Blind

  15. Hadley Distance Education: How It Works • A prospective student emails or calls Hadley toll-free to request application materials. The Hadley School for the Blind

  16. Hadley Distance Education: How It Works • Prospective students can enroll online through the Hadley Web site at www.hadley.edu. HSPS students visitwww.hadley.edu/HSPS. The Hadley School for the Blind

  17. Hadley Distance Education: How It Works • The course catalog and application are mailed to the prospective student. The enrollment application is completed and submitted via email, mail, fax or online. • HSPS catalog and enrollment is online only. The Hadley School for the Blind

  18. Hadley Distance Education: How It Works • Student Services staff reviews the enrollment application. If complete, Adult Continuing Education and High School applicants are enrolled in the Entrance Assignment. Family and Professional applicants are immediately enrolled. The Hadley School for the Blind

  19. Hadley Distance Education: How It Works • After successfully completing the Entrance Assignment, the new student is enrolled in the course he/she selected. The Hadley School for the Blind

  20. Hadley Distance Education: How It Works • Hadley then mails the course in the student’s preferred medium. A welcome letter and contact information from the instructor is included. Students enrolled in online courses receive instructions via email. The Hadley School for the Blind

  21. Hadley Distance Education: How It Works • The student completes a lesson from the course and sends the assignment to the instructor who promptly grades and returns it with feedback. Assignments can be mailed, faxed or emailed. The Hadley School for the Blind

  22. Hadley Distance Education: How It Works • After a student demonstrates the ability to submit an assignment, an instructor may approve sending multiple assignments. A student may enroll in a second course. Student Services will explain these guidelines to the student. The Hadley School for the Blind

  23. Hadley Distance Education: How It Works • The student receives a Certificate of Achievement after successfully finishing the course. The Hadley School for the Blind
