National Levee Database https://nld.usace.army.milCreation began in 2006 – Open to the Public October 2011 • >3,200 Segments and >2,500 systems • Known miles today = 14,700 • Miles Completed = 14,000 = 95% • Miles under contract = 700 = 5% • Other agency levees • BOR = 172 miles • Miami Conservancy District = 2.6 miles

FEMA-USACE Task Force (MAP-21) • Through Section 100226, FEMA and USACE are: …directed to convene a joint task force with USACE to “better align information and data collected” under ICW with NFIP levee accreditation so that • Data can be used interchangeably. • Information collected for ICW is sufficient to satisfy accreditation.

FEMA-USACE Task Force • Final report provided to Congressional committees on Nov 18, 2013 • Report can be found on the USACE Levee Safety Program website – http://www.usace.army.mil/Missions/CivilWorks/LeveeSafetyProgram • USACE and FEMA are working on task force recommendations • Memorandum of Understanding and policy updates

International Levee Handbook • Participating Countries: UK (Lead), Ireland, France, Germany, Netherlands, & USA • US participation includes Federal Agencies and Non-Federal Participants • US lead of O&M Chapter and provided experts for all Chapters • Released in October 2013 • Next Steps: • Pursue continued involvement in an International Community of Practice for Levees
