Who is Connected to STAR TAP? • Next Generation Internet (NGI) initiative is a US Government R&D funding program for high-performance networks and applications • STAR TAP is the international component of US government agency research networks: • DREN DOD Research & Education Network • ESnet DOE Energy Science research network • NREN NASA Research & Education Network • NISN NASA Information Science Network • vBNS NSF very-high-speed Backbone Network Service www.ngi.gov
Who is Connected to STAR TAP? • Internet2™is a consortium of over 180 universities working in partnership with industry and government to develop and deploy advanced network applications and technologies • Abilene, an Internet2 backbone network, interconnects at STAR TAP (as well as other peering locations) with several National Research & Education Networks with whom Internet2 collaborates. www.internet2.edu
