The Smolensk State Medical Universityis recognized by MCI, WHO, UK, USA and other major countries.In the international rating it is placed on the 22nd position.Today this University is a big scientific establishment where fundamental, applied and methodical scientific research is carried out. Because of high results, the Russian Government in March 2015 has raised the level to highest i.e. from Academy to University. That is why the name has been changed from Smolensk State Medical Academy to Smolensk State Medical University. Students from more than 50 countries study in Smolensk State Medical University. For foreign students MBBS course is carried out in English medium.There are 67 departments, where 450 highly qualified teachers are working.All the faculties and departments are well equipped with Electronic Microscopes, Bio-Chemical Laboratories, Radio-Isotope Laboratories and lecture halls equipped with Tele-video and multimedia apparatuses. There are 31 hospitals working under the Smolensk State Medical University out of them 8 hospitals with about 6000 beds is used for education of students.

  5. Every year an Indian cultural program is organized in which Indian and Russian students participate and show glimpses of Culture of India. The sport complex consists of a playground, a well-equipped gymnasium, two big sport halls, swimming pool with sauna bath and two shooting galleries, which can be used by all sport enthusiasts. The hostels of Smolensk State Medical University are centrally heated like (air-conditioned), and fully furnished.The basic system of hostel is two or three students in one room. The Students are provided with full bedding.Separate arrangements are being made for boys and girls.Every hostel has internet facilities provided by University.All the hostels are well guarded with police security.
