High Achievers • More importantly, measuring Value Added Scores (which measures statistical potential against achievement) we are in the top 10% nationally for achievement. • Last year’s Y12 students on average achieved over half a grade higher than their potential indicated. • Remember our entry criteria: 5 GCSE grades at C or above inc. Maths and English.

  11. EXPECTATIONS Attend all lessons and work hard Arrive for 8.45am and leave at 3.35pm/3.00PM (or indeed later!) Do all work set Inform us of absence Sixth Form Agreement Use all Study Periods

  15. Curriculum Time • Four double lessons per subject per week • Usually taught by two members of staff • Four doubles of study • One tutor /mentor period • Two single lessons of enrichment • Diverse opportunities for leadership and participation.

  16. HOW YOU CAN HELP Contact us if you have concerns Help put aside 2 hours per night – they always have something to do…. Encourage meeting deadlines and independent work; avoid plagiarism / cheating. Be aware of reports due / parents evening

KEY DATES 22nd October Parent Focus Group 9th December –Full reports 10th March IGRs (Interim Grade Report) to parents 12th March – Parents evening 21st April HE Evening 8th May – Study Leave June Futures Events for Post-18 Options and lessons for A2 courses start again. Dates to be confirmed. 25th June HE Convention in Birmingham 10th July term ends for sixth form students.

  20. Parent Focus Group • I would recommend parents attend the Parent Focus Group. It is an excellent opportunity to discuss general concerns in an informal setting. •  Mrs White is always open to ideas and suggestions, and over the past two years I have seen points raised by parents implemented very quickly. • The group also serves to comment on future plans for the sixth form, and it is good that parents views are considered. As the parent of children who entered the school in year 12, attending the group helped me get to know the school more quickly and realise how the sixth form is managed and run.
