Pref. Orient. Side drifted – peaks are a little too high in 2theta angle. Extra peaks may indicate contamination of 2nd phase or Rx with organic liquid.
Peak Shift 0.05 degrees Sample was so high that it was not in the focusing plane. Container says Plaster of Paris (CaSO4). It looks this stuff has grabbed H2O and CO2 from the air over time Sample holder
Sample A was Epsom Salts. Pack mount but signal still small because of reduced quantity.
Dolomite present in one sample and not in other. Textured Aluminum (200) preferred
Shifted to high 2theta and preferred orientation on (200) plane (200) Much like my Gold specimen!
Preferred orientation? Raised bkgd from Vaseline and/or glass slide
Good but boring… Peak positions look good, intensities close but not exact. Is there preferred orientation?
Backfilled specimen looks good. Plaster-of-Paris (Anhydrite) is multiphase mix after years on the shelf.
Gypsum prep’ed as backfilled shows some preferred orientation but not too bad
Mixture of coordinated H2O molecules
C0217G4a • Very strong preferred • orientation. • I guess Side drift method • did not work out so well.
Back filled is not too bad for randomness but still has exaggerated low angle peak
Shift of sample To high 2theta (200) Preferred orientation
Straight-forward ID of Halite
Don’t eat it Contamination from sample G?
