  3. The campaign is about rallying the nation and showing how the entire Chinese nation is supporting their athletes and the Games themselves. Famous Chinese Olympians such as key members of the Chinese Women’s Volleyball Team, diving sensation Hu Jia, basketball superstar Sui Feifei and football legend ZhengZhi are featured in the campaign.

  18. Foreign Architects There was a large outcry from the Chinese community of engineering and architecture to due to the foreign tender.

  19. Eventually, amidst controversy, the building was halted. The Chinese Government sought a review and possible change of plan. The liberal community lobbied and won, stating that the use of foreign architects revealed a more globalised and open-minded China.

  20. PARADOXES Showcasing the nation. The rise of conservative and liberal factionalism. The trimming of the budget from 500 to 290 million under pressure from elites, claiming exorbitance. Removing the retractable roof, a potential engineering feat.

  21. The Marginalized Millions of urban homes were demolished to make way for the Stadium. Many were relocated to areas with poor infrastructure and facilities.
