  5. My Projects • Readers Appreciation • Habitat for Humanity • Cross Country Recruits • Mission Trip: New Orleans

  6. Reader’s Appreciation • At a Blazer Basketball game around the mezzanine of the PE Complex, tables were set up for each elementary school. Certificates for students were at each table congratulating them on reading throughout the school year. A free Chick-Fil-A coupon was given to the student as well. • Handing the certificates and coupons to the students was rewarding for me because I like interacting with kids, and I like reading as a hobby.

  7. Habitat for Humanity • My cross country team met at a house where the Habitat for Humanity workers were working. • We put siding up on the house and caulked the boards to make sure they were in place. • Once the caulk was dried we painted two coats of paint onto the house.

  8. Habitat for Humanity

  9. Habitat for Humanity • Working at Habitat for Humanity was rewarding for me because I like to work outside with other people. • Also, knowing that I was helping build a house for someone to live in is exciting.

  10. Cross Country Recruits • In February 2010, two girl recruits for the cross country team came to visit the VSU campus. • I helped show them around the campus and answer any questions they had about the school, team, orour coach. • Getting to meet these girls made me very excited for the coming up 2010 cross country season. • I can say with excitement these girls will be coming to VSU in the fall.

  11. Mission Trip: New Orleans • My team worked on a church in Jefferson Parish of New Orleans. • In this picture we pressure washed, sanded, and painted all the white seen that helped make the front of the church look extraordinarily better.

  12. Mission Trip: New Orleans • One day we pulled nails out of boards in an alleyway, a project the church needed done because someone came to pick the boards up that week. • This was very tedious work in the hot sun but it was easier to have conversation with others while sitting and working at the same time.

  13. Mission Trip: New Orleans • I loved the experience I had in New Orleans. • We got to see the city, what had been repaired as well as what all still needed to be repaired. • We also got to meet people from the city and hear from their hearts about what happened years ago during the hurricane Katrina disaster.
