  1. Photography Class:Photo Portfolio By: Mariah Frink

  2. I picked this picture because I love the brightness and contrast between the clouds and sky, against the green fields, flowers, driveway, the gate, and the fence. There isn’t any shadowing in this photo, and I think that it wouldn’t look great with shadows. I wanted to show the vivid colors, and to make the picture stand out. This picture was in my top ten list because of the bright colors, the textured elements (driveway) and the softness of objects (green pasture, white flowers).

  3. I picked this photo because I love how the shot is a close up instead of the picture showing the whole body. I also love that the cat isn’t faced towards the camera, that the photo gets his side view. I also love the detail and texture that this picture has and that you can visually see the fur and texture of it. I also love his eyes, and the detail that the eyes bring. This picture is in my top ten list because of the close up, detail, and the shadowing/light features in this picture.

  4. I picked this picture because of the shadowing, and the contrast between light and dark, the textured features and the softness/sharpness of the picture. I love how his hair is light, but his shirt is dark, and his face is in between. I love how there is shadowing in this picture because I think it enhances his face and the light areas of this picture. I also love that it shows his wrinkles, lines and features of his face, because I think it adds to the picture. I picked this picture for my top ten list because I love the contrast between light and dark, the shadowing and the texture of his features (mustache, hair, skin).

  5. I picked this picture because I love the contrast between the inside of the building, and outside. I also love the texture of the building versus, the softness of the outside. I also love how the background is vivid in color from the sky to the ground. This picture also has shadowing and contrast between light and dark from the inside of the building. I picked this photo for my top ten list because I love how there is contrast between the inside and outside, and how there is light and dark in areas of the building.

  6. I picked this picture because it shows action, and because of the movement with the hands and the dough. I love how this picture has a smear of the dough and hand, and that it shows motion and not stillness. I also love the different colors and how they go with each other. From the table, to the bowl, to the hands, and dough. If I had asked the model to be still, and to keep their hands steady, then you would have been confused with whether or not the person’s hands were actually moving. This picture shows that it was not planned because of the motion, and smear from the hands and dough. I picked this picture because it was showing movement, and because of the vivid colors that went well with each other.

  7. I picked this picture because I love the reflection of the sky and clouds, and the saturation, and contrast of the water drops. I also love how the front of the picture is fuzzy and as it goes further the water drops, sky, and clouds are clear and vivid. I also love how the water drops don’t blend in with the sky, and that each color and object is clear and detailed. I picked this picture for my top ten list because I love how everything is detailed, the contrast between the water drops and the sky/clouds, and how the picture is dynamic.

  8. I picked this picture because it’s simple yet complex. I love how this picture shows the barbed wire spike being clear, and everything else is fuzzy and smeared. I also like the trees in the background give the picture an edgy outlined look. I also like how the barbed wire fence is separating the green and yellow fields on either side. I picked this picture for my top ten list because even though it’s simple it has a lot of elements that are dynamic, clear, and show great detail. I

  9. I chose this picture because I love the zoomed-in effect for the horse’s eye. I also love how the edge of the eye has a diamond of light, and how you can see the reflection of the other side by looking at his eye. I also like the contrast between the horse and the sky, and how this picture is detailed. I picked this picture for my top ten list because of the zoomed-in effect, and because of the way looks, and how much detail is in it.

  10. I chose this picture because I love the way the lady bugs stand out against the wood. I love the color of the bugs and how they pop against the brown, vivid, lined wood. I also like how there are two lady bugs instead of one, and that you get a friendship-sort-of photo. I picked this picture for my top ten list because of how the bugs pop against the wood, the detail, and the lines/texture of the wood itself.

  11. I chose this picture because I love the shape, and edginess of this part of the building. I also love how the shape of the wood is the star, and how the background doesn’t add or take away the part of the building. I love how there is shadowing/shading in the lower part of the building and how as it goes up it gets lighter and more enhanced. I chose this picture for my top ten list because of the detail, edginess, and structure that this photo has.
