  5. Mobile technologies are useful in teaching literacy.

Research in the area of Mobile technologies and literacy • Leu et al (2004) • Technologies have come to redefine literacy • Difficult to define as they change so rapidly • McClanahan et al (2012) • iPad helped ADHD student focus attention • more metacognitive in reading • “1 years growth in 6 weeks” • Increased confidence and sense of control over learning

Research in the area of Mobile technologies and literacy • Huang et al (2013) • iPads helped pre-schoolers with ADHD • Attention span longer when interacting with iPad • Motivating power emphasised • Motor skills (tap, swipe, drag, pinch) developed • Aronin and Floyd (2013) • Practical tips • Practice and refinement of fine motor skills • Motivating – students stick with it more • Confidence base
