One version of the Greek myth • While hunting, Actaeon comes upon Artemis, the beautiful Greek goddess of the hunt, bathing in the woods. • He understandably stopped and stared at her, amazed by her beauty. • Artemis punished Actaeon for this, forbidding him to speak or be turned into a stag. • Actaeon heard the approach of his hunting party and called out. He was immediately turned into a stag. • His hounds turned upon him and tore him to pieces.
