Decline of SafavidsSunday, October 20 • Similar to Ottomans • Shah Abbas killed or blinded his ablest sons • Incompetent Grandson gained the throne • Nadir Shah Afshar – expanded empire but cruelty lead his own people to kill him • Homework: Pick a cause of cultural blending and research it within a particular culture. Akbar VS Aurangzeb Wednesday • You will be split in to two groups. • Akbar and Aurangzeb • You will have 15 minutes to prepare a defense describing why your leader is better. • You will then have 5 minutes to present your ideas and the other group will have a few minutes to critique your ideas. • The other group will present and then you will have a few minutes to critique their ideas

  10. Ottomans, Safavids, Mughals • You need to pick one of the 3 empires, Ottomans, Safavids, or Mughals. • You must write 3-4 paragraphs describing the rise and fall of the empire and explain the significance of this empire. Why was it important?
