HEALTH and SAFETY REMINDERS • Infectious Disease Policy: Form WR2 • VALID FOR 7DAYS • (Procedures: p. 86 in NFHS Wrestling Rules Book) • Growth Allowance: 2 additional pounds Begins December 26th • FHSAA Regulation: Disinfection of Wrestling Shoes • Home team management is required to provide a bottle of disinfecting product so that wrestlers and referee’s spray the bottom of their shoes, wipe them off with a towel, and then step onto the mat. The disinfecting product will be located at the Scorer’s Table of each mat.
COACHES RESPONSIBILITIES • Bylaw 9 Overview • Eligibility—iFHSAA or C2C reporting system • EL10 Form should be submitted if a school representative has any questions • Game Contracts required for each regular season contest & tournament (Bylaw 8.4)—AT1 Form • Revision to Residence & Transfer Rules • (Bylaw 9.2 & 9.3)
TEAM/PRACTICE REGULATIONS • Regular Season: 18 meets maximum • All sanctioned multi-school events count as 2 • Minimum Practices prior to competing • 10 separtate or 5 (if fall sport athlete) • NWCA Optimal Performance Calculator assessment prior to competing in a regular season match or tournament
Events Needing NFHS Approval • Host School Responsibility • Due 90 days in advance or late processing fee • Can be tracked on NFHS web site (www.nfhs.org) TOURNAMENT REGULATIONS TOURNAMENT SANCTIONS Includes “Application Fee”: Fees listed in Policy 7.2 (HB) All Tournaments: Must be received at least 30 days in advance (Preseason Classic: November 5-10) Invitational Tournaments limited to 32 teams
NWCA OPTIMAL PERFORMANCE CALCULATOR • Must participate in NWCA web-based Optimal Performance Calculator (OPC) • NWCA membership dues this season: • $30.00 per school for OPC access. • Pre-match Weigh-in Form is Required • See FHSAA Handbook for details (page 212)
WRESTLING ASSESSORS NEEDED • Any medical professional ( AthleticTrainer, Physician, etc.) may register to be an FHSAA Wrestling Assessor • Assessor registration form on FHSAA web site • See web site for list of trained Master assessors • Any Master assessor can deliver the necessary training to qualify a medical professional as a wrestling assessor It is each school’s responsibility to contact a registered assessor to make arrangements for the assessment process.
WEIGH-IN PROCEDURE • Referee conducts ALL weigh-ins • NWCA Pre-match Weigh-in Form • * REQUIRED for each match • * SIGNED by both Head Coaches & Referee • Weight Classification VERIFICATION at District and Region Tournaments
UNSPORTING CONDUCT • FINANCIAL PENALTIES ADDED BY BOARD • Coach must miss the same number of games as players(Policy #30) • Officials Protocol • Pre-match conference with head coaches and team captains • Disqualification Procedure • Notify both head coaches of ejection • Emailwritten conduct reportwithin 24 hours
UNSPORTING CONDUCT • Public Criticism of Officials/Coaches Forbidden • Coach don’t criticize officials • Officials don’t criticize coaches • NO Alcohol and Tobacco Products
STATE TOURNAMENT SERIES • Entry List: deadline January 21 • Submit on C2C • Must participate in 4 meets • Region Sites on Web Site: fhsaa.org • Florida Finals @ The Lakeland Center • February 14-15; A 2-day Event • Russ Mauger Mental Attitude Award
