  27. assure意为以十分肯定的语气“向…保证(某事一定会发生)、使…相信…是真实的”,隐含解除某人心中疑虑的含义,后面须接人称代词或指人的名词作宾语,宾语后可接something, of something或that从句; ensure意为主语作为动因“确保、保证”某种行为或结果一定会发生,隐含在实际行动上作出担保或进行确保的含义; guarantee表示对产品的质量、服务或义务的实施等“担保”,常带有以某物为抵押的原始意义. insure作“保证、确保”讲相当于ensure ,但不及后者正式,两者可以通用;此外,该词更多作表达纯粹法律上的“给…保险”的专门术语。

  32. basis: (pl. bases) n. 1) the facts or ideas from which sth. can be developed; foundation 基础 考点:通常用作单数名词,后常接for或of e.g. The research will form the basis of a book. 2) the circumstance that provides a reason for some action or opinion 根据 考点:后常接of 或that从句 e.g. You must stay at home, on the basis of the medical reports we have received.

  38. tend: vi. be likely to happen or have a particular characteristic or effect易于,往往会 e.g. 1) Some people tend to get up later at weekends. 2) The old couple tend to buy cheap processed foods like canned chicken. 3) The school bus tends to be early on Monday mornings. vt. look after 照管,护理 e.g. The nurse gently tended the patient’s cuts.
