Required Grades and Test Scores All incoming freshmen had a class rank in the top half of their high school graduating class 91% of incoming freshmen had a 3.75 GPA in high school 62% of incoming freshmen had an SAT score between 700 and 800. No students were admitted with an SAT score under 400. 83% of incoming freshmen had an ACT score between 30 and 36. No students were admitted with an ACT score under 18

Advanced Placement • Does offer credit for AP exams. • Does offer placement into higher-level courses for AP exam • For example: • Scores of 4 or 5 in a foreign language AP exam satisfy the Foreign Language requirement • But AP examinations do not satisfy the General Education Requirements • Up to 10 units of credit per discipline is allowed for some of the AP exams

  4. Costs • In-state and out-of-state • $20,750 for tuition • Room and board is $6,360.50 • Books and supplies $750 • Personal expenses $1,200 • Orientation fee is $219 • Campus health service fee is $268.50 • So the total cost (on average) is $29,423

  5. Major I plan to become a doctor, so I would probably choose a biology major such as biology. Stanford offers both Master and Doctorate degrees for this major. Stanford degree requirement is 48 credit hours in the biology department

  6. History Leland Stanford moved to California during the gold rush with his family. He was the leader of the Republican Party, governor of California, and later a senator. His son died so he just decided to memorialize his son’s memory through a university. On October 1, 1891, Stanford University opened with a class of 555 men and women.

  9. Music at Stanford Lessons are offered but you have to audition Musical scholarships are distributed annually There are multiple choral studies In addition, there are a host of instrumental ensembles
