The Conditions for Workers Workers are frequently: • Paid less than minimum wage,sometimes tips alone. • Lack of shade, rest breaks and clean water. • Exposed to toxic chemicals without protective gear. • Many have reported rashes, nosebleeds, respiratory problems and chronic eye irritation from chemical exposure.

  3. Partnerships with Community • Trainings for workers and staff • Assistance with H&S expertise • Support for worker H&S committee • Developing educational materials for workers • Access to health services • CLEAN Safety Allies: • * UCLA-LOSH * Worksafe • * SoCalCOSH * IDEPSCA

  4. Collaboration with Government Agencies • Building organizational relationships • Having workers provide first-hand testimony about industry conditions. • Assisting with agencyinvestigations in an atmosphere of fear for workers. • Expanding public education about health and safety issues

  5. Worker Engagement .. and Leadership • Engaging workers in the process of improving health and safety conditions • Using these efforts for worker leadership development and as an organizing tool • Creating community advocates and organizers
