  4. Rollout Servers – 6 Unit • 2 x 36.7Gb SCSI Drives • RAID 1 • System – 10 Gb • 3 x 160Gb SATA Drives • RAID 5 • Apps – 100 Gb • Data – 100 Gb • Images – 80 Gb • Future use (Altiris) – 40 Gb

  5. Users • Individual Logon accounts • Staff and students • All users have a home directory • User profiles are NOT used • Internet Favorites stored in Home directories • All students have protected eduweb folder

  8. Group Policies – All users • Redirect MS Office default location to H: • Apply Internet settings • Disable Desktop Cleanup Wizard • Run Logon script

  9. Group Policies - Students • Apply security • Remove access to Control Panel • Don’t save settings on logoff • Prevent access to Registry Tools

  10. On Logon • Users get mapped drives to allowed shares • Network Printers are connected • Based on site, group or computer • Group policies applied • Common Desktop icons created • based on group • Common Internet Favorites created • based on group

  11. Backup • Weekly backup schedule • Full Backup of data on Friday Night • Incremental Backup on Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu • Replace media Friday Morning • Rollout servers – • 35/40 Gb RevDisks • Other Servers • Recommend 2 or 3 External Hard Disk Drives • Eg Maxtor OneTouch II 200Gb

  12. Future Plans • Windows Servers • Remote installation of software • WSUS updates for servers and Workstations • Altiris Package deployment • Apple Server Build under review • Apple Remote Desktop software will be used to manage Apple Servers
