Basics to know first • Dribble with your fingertips • Keep your head up • Be quick on your feet • Keep an eye on where your offense is on the floor • Be aware of your defender's position • Be in control of the ball • Work on accuracy of the technique of your dribble • Keep up speed • Challenge yourself when practicing

  4. Basic dribbling • Start by standing in one place • Good solid foot position • Eyes up and aware of surroundings • Bounce the ball from the ground up back to the hand • Use fingertips- no palm slapping • Try alternating the dribble by going faster/slower and doing low/high dribbles • Start with what you are comfortable with and then challenge yourself

  5. Tipping the ball • Feet shoulder length apart • Eyes up and aware of surroundings • Shuffle the ball back and forth between hands • Use fingertips- no palm slapping • Vary it by going up and down from head to feet- a.k.a. “up the ladder” • Start with what you are comfortable with and then challenge yourself

  6. Around the world • Feet shoulder length apart • Eyes up and aware of surroundings • Pass the ball around your body in circles- alternating between waist, head, legs • Legs- each individually and both at same time (also try figure 8) • Use fingertips- no palm slapping • Start with what you are comfortable with and then challenge yourself

  7. Crossover dribble • Feet shoulder length apart • Eyes up and aware of surroundings • Dribble the ball back and forth between hands with a bounce midway on the ground • Use fingertips- no palm slapping • Try alternating the dribble by going faster/slower and doing low/high dribbles • Start with what you are comfortable with and then challenge yourself

  8. Dribbling between cones • Feet shoulder length apart • Eyes up and aware of surroundings • Start with crossover dribble • Then try with dribble on one side faking into the cones and then pulling out • Use fingertips- no palm slapping • Try alternating the dribble by going faster/slower and doing low/high dribbles • Start with what you are comfortable with and then challenge yourself
