  2. September 20, 2010 • Objective: Student knows the relationships of biotic and abiotic factors, within habitats, ecosystems and biomes. • Focus: Why is the ocean important? • Activity: Go over exam, spiral, expectations. • Take notes over oceans.

  3. September 21, 2010 • Objective: Student can predict how the extinction of a species will influence existing populations and ecosystems. • Focus: What would happen if insects became extinct? (what does extinct mean?) • Activity: Go over each question on Friday exam to check for understanding of vocabulary. • From Monday: Why is the ocean important to the environment?

  4. Wednesday, September 22 • Objective: Student will understand concepts of extinction of species related to human interactions with the environment. • Focus: What is a carnivorous plant? • Activity: Go over the photos from the Big Thicket for carnivorous plants. Watch the video “The Lorax”. • Time permitting, continue the deep sea investigation from Tuesday after the video.

  5. Thursday, September 23 • Objective: Students will demonstrate understanding of concepts of observation in a biome. • Focus: What type of ecosystem or biome would you construct if it were possible? • Activity: Scavenger hunt

  6. Friday, September 24 • Objective: Student will understand the ongoing concepts of safety in the lab. • Focus: what is the most important safety rule? • Activity: Retake safety exam, complete class work and work on interactive notebook for environmental systems.
