  5. Tipp High School Math Introduction • Grading policy (Semester) • Tipp High School • Grading (Class) • Major Grade 70% • Tests • Concept quizzes • Major projects • Minor Grade 30% • Homework • Daily Warm Up/Checks for Understanding • Minor Labs or Projects

Tipp High School Math Introduction • Homework • Homework is important for the daily building of math skills (like practicing for a sport or music) • Homework will be assigned daily and collected randomly at least once a week. • NEATNESS and ORGANIZATION will help you. • There will be some homework differentiation. • We will not try to overload you with busy work

Tipp High School Math Introduction • Homework • Students will complete a daily Warm Up/Check for Understanding the next day at the beginning of class. • The Warm Up will be graded and returned the next day. • At the end of week all points from the daily Warm Ups will be added together. • Students may turn in corrections on homework the following week to get points back.

Tipp High School Math Introduction • Concept Quizzes • Concept Quizzes will cover a unit • Students can retake Concept Quizzes one week after the quiz until one week before the end of quarter. • Students must do an Error Analysis and meet with the teacher before retake of the quizzes. • Retakes may be done Tuesdays before school or Thursdays after school.

  9. Tipp High School Math Introduction Mid Quarter and End of Quarter Tests • Mid Quarter Tests will cover 2-3 units • Students may make corrections for points • Corrections will be due by end of following week

Tipp High School Math Introduction Mid Quarter and End of Quarter Tests • End of Quarter Tests • Q1 and Q3 will be taken one week prior to the end of quarter • Will be taken one week prior to end of quarter • Student will have to end of quarter to make corrections for points • Q2 and Q4 will be taken as the Semester Final

  11. Tipp High School Math Introduction • Projects • Projects are meant to further expand topics covered in class • Projects are meant to make real life connections • Projects are meant to be FUN!!! • Projects should help your grade.

  12. Tipp High School Math Introduction • Daily Routine • Walk in/Class Entrance Routine • Place cell phones in the Cell Phone box • Sit in assigned seat • Complete Warm Up/Check for Understanding • Take out need class material including homework

Tipp High School Math Introduction • Weekly Planning • Weekly plan and assignments will be shared via THS Website and on board every day. • Classroom material will be shared via THS Website and Google classroom where appropriate • Students should write the plan for the week in their weekly planner at the beginning of each week. • Grades can be found on Powerschool

Tipp High School Math Introduction • Technology Usage • When we use chromebooks, laptops or phones • There should only be the app or page open that is being used in class. • Violations will be treated the same as other issues. • Phones must be placed in box (no exceptions) • There are times that students will be told to use their phones for educational purposes.

Tipp High SchoolMath Introduction • Bathroom Policy • Students will be given 5 bathroom passes for each quarter. • Students may turn in the bathroom pass for extra credit point at end of quarter. • Students must ask to go to the bathroom and then provide the teacher the pass and complete the sign out.

  17. Math Introduction • Joke of the Day • There are three types of people in this world. Those who can count and those who can’t. • Q: Did you hear about the mathematician who’s afraid of negative numbers? • A: He will stop at nothing to avoid them.
