Purpose of this Session • Obtain TBAC support for activities and missions of Haskell and SIPI • Provide an overview of Haskell and SIPI • Communicate the value of Haskell and SIPI in building capacity throughout Indian Country • Provide information to the TBAC about current and historic funding levels appropriated to Haskell and SIPI

  8. Accreditation overview of Haskell and SIPI • Haskell and SIPI both received North Central Association (NCA) accreditation in the 1970’s and have maintained this accreditation • Both institutions maintain specialized accreditations for specific degree programs SIPI Haskell

Overview of Haskell Degree Programs • Degree Programs • Four baccalaureate degrees – Elementary Education, Environmental Science, American Indian Studies, Business Administration • 14 Associate Degrees • Proposed Degrees – Liberal Arts, Community Health, and additional degrees identified in the course of national tribal dialogue sessions • Additional programs must align with existing resources and mission

Overview of Haskell and SIPI Operations • Current operation budget for Haskell • Funding for Haskell FY 2009 • $10,442,000 Education • $3,736,845 Facilities • Total $14,178,845.00 • Current operation budget for SIPI • Funding for SIPI FY 2009 • $6,716,123 Education • $1,690,868 Facilities • Total $8,406,991.00 • Funding levels at both schools are consistent with appropriations from over 20 years ago after adjustments for inflation

Overview of Haskell and SIPI Operations • Funding constraints have an adverse impact on accreditation • Funding constraints limit new degree programs, hiring, tribal outreach and training, services to students, facility improvements, and information technology (I.T. Infrastructure) • Funding is supplemented by grants • Services are supplemented through partnerships

Plans for Haskell and SIPI Haskell • Expand degree offerings • Program development for Student Success • Enhance I.T. infrastructure to support online learning • Fill critical positions across campus SIPI • Fill key positions, including instructors • Expand and maintain the Library • Strengthen student support services • Strengthen information technology infrastructure • Improve residential life
