  2. Voting Rights • Voting should be an easily accessible thing to everybody • Minorities, seniors, women, and military personal are in danger of not being able to vote because of voter ID laws • Voter ID laws are under the pretense of preventing voter-straud (only 0.08% of the entire population)

  3. Environment • Democrats want to create a “greener” society by curbing greenhouse gases and CO2 admissions into the air which will also create new jobs. • Global warming is a serious issue • Also believe that there should be stricter standards for energy industries

  4. Civil Rights • Support the full repeal of Defense of Marriage Act and the Employment Non-Discrimination Act to fight • These discrimination can include race, sex, ethnicity, national origin, language, and religion.

  5. Education • “No Child Left Behind Act” • Provide teachers with support and resources • “Race to the Top” which increases standards and also issuing student loans

  6. Science and Technology • Scientific research plays an important rule in advancing science and technology. • Want to invest in technology jobs of the future while increasing support for students. • The Obama administration lifted federal restriction laws on stem cell research, which allows scientists with new and usable technology.

  7. Retirement Security • Created in 1935 by both the Democratic Party and President Franklin D. Roosevelt. • Medicare was created in 1965 by the democrats and President Lyndon Johnson. • Want to protect social security and with the “Affordable Care Act” improve all around care.

  8. Healthcare • A healthcare system that is available to all Americans • Largest middle class tax-cut for health care • Tax cuts for small businesses • Reduces default by 1 billion in 2 decades by lowering cost for family businesses • The “New Medicare”

  9. Immigration • Secure borders and reduce illegal trafficking on both sides • Employers that are hiring illegal immigrants will be punished • Undocumented workers must pay taxes and learn English • Level the playing field for American workers

  10. National Security • Committed to insuring that our troops have the training, equipment and support that they need • Taking care of troops and their families • Preventing terrorism across the globe • Keep nuclear and biological weapons safe • Build a better border security

  11. Open Government • Bring an unprecedented accountability to federal spending • Shut the revolving door that allowed lobbyists to move freely • Rein in the influence of lobbyists in Washington DC • Open more lines of communication with the American public

  12. Energy Independence • Expand domestic oil production by speeding up the leasing process and improving safety measures • Doubling renewable wind, solar, and geothermal energy since 2008 • Agreeing with automakers to double fuel efficiently • Decrease oil consumption by 2.2 million barrels a day

  13. Jobs and Economy • Before President Obama, the economy was plummeting • When he took office in 2009, he created over 700,000 jobs a month • The economy was stabilized and a second great depression was prevented
