  2. Do you know what Diploma Path you are on? CORE 40? ACADEMIC HONORS? TECHNICAL HONORS? GENERAL DIPLOMA?

EVSC / CORE 40 • Intended to prepare students for admission to four-year colleges and universities, one and two-year colleges and technical schools, and/or successful entry into the workforce. • English: 8 credits • Social Studies: 6 credits • Mathematics: 6 credits • Science: 6 credits (4 credits for General Diploma) • Health: 1 credit • Physical Education: 3 credits • Directed Electives: 5 credits from World Language, Fine Arts and/or Career/Technical Electives: 6 credits (Career/Academic sequence recommended) • Total: 41 credits • Students planning to attend four-year colleges are expected to take a minimum of two years • of a world language. • Must pass ECA in Algebra I and English 10

Academic Honors Diploma For the Core 40 with Academic Honors diploma, students must also: • Earn 2 additional Core 40 math credits, and • Earn 6-8 Core 40 world language credits, and • Earn 2 Core 40 fine arts credits, and • Earn a grade of “C” or above in courses that will count toward the diploma, and • Have a grade point average of “B” or above, and • Complete one of the following: • Two Advanced Placement courses (4 credits) and corresponding AP exams • Transferable dual high school/college courses(6 college credits) • One Advanced Placement course and corresponding AP exam and transferable dual + high school/college dual credit course(s) (3 college credits) • Score 1200 or higher combined SAT math and verbal • Score a 26 or higher composite ACT • An International Baccalaureate Diploma • Earn a minimum of 47 credits

Technical Honors Diploma • For the Core 40 with Technical Honors diploma, students must also: • Earn a grade of “C” or above in courses that will count toward the diploma, and • Have a grade point average of “B” or above, and • Complete a career-technical program, resulting in 8 or more credits, and • Earn a minimum of 47 credits • Recommended: Earn 2 additional credits in math and 4 to 8 in World Language for four year college admission. • Complete two of the following, one must be A or B: • Score at or above the established proficiency levels on Workeys • Complete dual high school/college credit courses in a technical area (6 college credits) • Complete a Professional Career Internship course or Cooperative Education course (2 credits) • Complete an industry-based work experience as part of a two-year technical education program (minimum 140 hours) • Earn a state-approved, industry-recognized certification

General Diploma Students who meet the minimum graduation requirements established by the Evansville-Vanderburgh School Corporation and the State of Indiana but donot meet the Core 40 requirements may graduate with a General Diploma. Students will be required to: • Earn a minimum of 6 credits from a career academic sequence intended to prepare students for post-secondary opportunities. • Earn a minimum of 5 flex credits from one of the following: • Additional courses from the career-academic sequence • Courses involving work place learning • Advanced career – technical education, college credit • Additional courses from the high school curriculum • Pass end-of-course exams in Algebra I and English 10

  9. The Diploma. . . . • In order to graduate and receive a diploma • 1. You must have 41 Core Credits & pass required ECA’s. or • 2. You must have 41 Core Credits, a 95% attendance rate and qualify in accordance to the waiver work sheet.

  15. PLAN/PSAT • PLAN- Practice ACT usually taken by Sophomores. Contains an interest inventory. • PSAT- Practice for SAT the state is encouraging Sophomores to take the test. All Juniors especially those who wish to qualify for the National Merit Semi-finalist should take the PSAT.

  17. Important Dates to Remember • Sophomores- T& I Applications must be returned to counselor by December 16th. • Enrollment Forms- Need to be taken home and signed by parents. Classes that need teacher approval need to be initialed. Return the enrollment form to the counseling office by December 16th. • Parent Night- December 7th at 6:00p.m.
