  2. A BRIEF HISTORY 2009-2019 • How Have We Gotten “Here”? 2.

Fall, 2009 – First GHS Exploratory Committee Established • October – July, 2012 – Exploratory Committee studied various options on how to address needs. • October, 2012 – School Committee establishes a formal GHS Building Committee and hires PDT architects. • Late Spring, 2013 – PDT architects present draft design plan for GHS capital renovation (comparison coming up on next slide). • Fall, 2015 – GHS building committee work “tabled” while public safety building completed. • Spring, 2016 – Updated enrollment projections completed showing increasing student populations. • Fall, 2016 – School Committee re-establishes formal GHS Building Committee and Athletic Capital Campaign Committee to re-look at how to address needs. • Early Spring, 2017 – Study Committees worked to narrow down options to 5 possible options which were presented to Town Council. • February, 2017 – Oak Point Associates hired to conduct feasibility study to look at cost comparisons for the following 4 options: • Program Swap between GMS and GHS. • New Construction – Existing Site • New Construction – New Site • Renovation on Existing Site. HISTORY 2009-2019 • June, 2017 – Feasibility Study completed by Oak Point, presented to Town Council, and direction given to go with renovations on existing site. 3.

June, 2017 – Town provides “seed $” to School to get to concept design and voter referendum. • Fall, 2017 – Harriman Associates hired to create concept design and get project to voter referendum. • January, 2018 – Joint meeting with Town Council to update on work. • August, 2018 – Joint meeting with Town Council to update on work. • March 12, 2019 – INITIAL concept total project estimate released to GHS building Committee in total project amount of $96,798,527.00 • March 19, 2019 – Joint meeting with Town Council to update on work an determine next steps.   14. Yes, the INITIAL Estimate came in at a little over $96 Million dollars…this figure is NOT something that can be supported by the community of Gorham – PERIOD, nor should it be. But that is not the END of the story… It is only the BEGINNING… NEXT STEPS… 14.

  15. GHS Building Committee works with Harriman to reduce scope and find best “balance” between total project cost and meeting student needs. NEXT STEPS Prong #1 15.

  16. Collect Feedback from School Committee, Town Council, GHS Building Committee members, and public on creative ideas for how to continue to move forward to address needs while reducing costs. NEXT STEPS Prong #2 16.

  17. Bring back results of GHS Building Committee work with “bottom line” costs using current design as basis. Bring back results of feedback collection with identification of top 5-6 “themes” for ideas for how to move forward in a possible new direction. Share with Town Council mid-late June and determine next steps. NEXT STEPS 17.
