  2. BY-LAWS • Students were given a copy of our club by-laws at the first meeting. • The by-laws cover all aspects of our club. • Meetings • Member requirements • Service Projects • Dues • Officers

  3. REQUIREMENTS FOR MEMBERSHIP • Students show high achievement and demonstrate leadership responsibilities. • Conform to the By Laws of JRES Jr. Beta • 5th & 6th grade • Maintain a 90% overall average • 15 Volunteer hours • Dues - $20 • Students may purchase a Beta shirt (optional)

  4. JR BETA OFFICERS • Officers will be the leaders of Jr. Beta and take the place of JRES Student Council • Vote with ballots at our next meeting • Officer Roles: • President • Vice President of Members • Vice President of Projects • Secretary • Accountant • Historian (More than 1) • Chaplain

  5. INDUCTION CEREMONY • December 4th at 6:00pm in the gymnasium • Professional Dress for students • No jeans • All students will be recognized in a candlelight ceremony.

  6. VOLUNTEER HOURS • Students must complete 15 volunteer hours by May 6th. • Beta will offer “Service Saturdays” to help with hours and to enjoy fellowship as a club • Students who are in other service organizations can “double-dip” up to 5 hours, but no more. • Volunteer work is defined as a service to the community that you are not paid for.

  7. CONVENTION • February 27-March 1 • Louisville, KY- The Galt House • We will leave the 27th after school and return Friday afternoon. • All students will compete in Songfest. • Students will need a pair of khaki pants and a pair of black pants. • Individual competitions (see handout) • We will have a preliminary competition at JRES to decide upon the representatives. • Cost will be determined by the number of students that sign up to attend. Scholarships will be available.
