  1. Custom control hardware and DIM: a case study R. Fantechi 6/4/2011

  2. The problem • Custom monitoring hardware developed for NA48 • Measurementofvoltages at the end of the distributionchains • Measurement of currents in each chain • Implementation • Galvanically insulated ADC, referenced to HV line • Sequencer and readout memory as VME modules • + additional VME pieces of any interest for NA62

  3. The monitoring system R. Fantechi - 11/12/2009

  4. Voltage and currentmeasurements R. Fantechi - 11/12/2009

  5. The solution • Standalone readout of the VME hardware • Implemented in C++ • It is a DIM server • It publishes to PVSS 32 voltages and 32 currents, both in burst and out of burst • Implemented in summer 2010 by Brian O’Connell (George Mason) • Tested and validated up to PVSS • Next update • In burst/out burst now fake implementation • Add a section acting as a DIM client receiving a time message published by a NA62 server • Move from Lynx-OS to Linux • Wait for a new processor, get rid of the old NA48 CPU and file base
