  1. IGP Data Plane Convergence Benchmarking draft-ietf-bmwg-igp-dataplane-conv-app-05.txtdraft-ietf-bmwg-igp-dataplane-conv-term-05.txt draft -ietf-bmwg-igp-dataplane-conv-meth-05.txt Authors: Scott Poretsky, Quarry Technologies Brent Imhoff, LightCore 62nd IETF Meeting – Minneapolis

  2. Version History • 3 documents for work item = methodology, terminology, and considerations • Had a WG Last Call for –03 revisions of all 3 docs prior to IETF 60 BMWG meeting where additional comments received. • -04 revisions posted to incorporate comments made during IETF 60. • Additional comments to –04 were received at IETF 61 BMWG meeting and electronically. These necessitated a –05. • -05 posted for all 3 docs to incorporate (final?) comments prior to IETF 62.

  3. Summary of Terminology -05 Changes • Updated to preferred Existing Definitions Statement • Changed equation 3 and added comment in Discussion for Sustained Convergence Time “(eq 3) Sustained Forwarding Convergence Time = 5 x (# routes in FIB) / (Offered Load) for which at least one packet per destination MUST be received at the DUT.” • Added note that the “Next-Best Egress Interface” must be the same link speed and media type as the “Preferred Egress Interface”. • Added definition for “Nested Convergence Events” “The occurrence of Convergence Event while the route table is converging from a prior Convergence Event.”

  4. Summary of Methodology -05 Changes • Updated to preferred Existing Definitions Statement • Added note in Introduction that Methodologies apply to IPv4 and IPv6 traffic and IGPs. • Paragraph 3.2.7 Interface Types was written so that any interface type can be used (previously recommended SONET) • Added note to paragraph 3.2.5 Convergence Time Metrics that “The Packet Sampling Interval value is the smallest measurable convergence time.”

  5. Next Steps • Any other comments? • Ready for another WG Last Call? • Ready for IESG Review?
