  3. Time in the Rain Forest You may think there are not a lot of people in the Rain Forest and they do not have many meetings to go to, so why is TIME important. But the animals and plants do different things at different times of the day. Most animals sleep at night, just like you. What time do you go to bed? Set that time on the clock. Use an analog clock and a digital one. Discuss times the students have set. Use the big clock hands, hour and minute cards to show the times. Discuss the hidden numbers. Compare the times and see how much later or earlier one is than the other.

  6. 0 & 1 1-9 1-5 1-9 Giant digital clocks can be made using numbers on full sheets of paper. Each stack can be attached with rings and a dowel rod slid through, so that it can be held and flipped. Cards should be laminated. Make individual digital clocks , shown here, using ½ sheet of construction paper and number cards. All should be laminated. Fasten with zip ties. For a giant analog clock make full size numbers 1-12 on red paper and 5, 10, 15…60 on blue paper. Put strings through so that they can hang around the neck. Use 2 dowels, different lengths, short one red and long one blue. Students stand in a circle with numbers one person in the middle with the hands.
