FUN FACTS

1.Tourist Count- An average of 50,000 tourist per day visit the historic square.

2.. The city has 118 islands and more than 150 canals and 400 bridges

3. Restaurant food and service quality tend to be among the most disappointing in Italy.

The main reason is most diners are tourists and most of them will never return to

Venice. Therefore, pleasing them is not a priority.

4. The origin of Venice dates back to the mid 400, over 1500 years ago.

5. Venice was not built directly on the surface of the islets, but instead supported

bywooden platforms kept together by wooden piles entrenched in the sea bed.

Why? Because those emerging flat lands were not sturdy enough to support a building

on them.
