  1. September 8, 2017 DEEP LEARNING TOP 5 Insights into the new computing model

  2. DEEP LEARNING IS THE FASTEST-GROWING FIELD IN ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (AI)

  3. AS AI TECHNOLOGIES CONTINUE TO IMPROVE, MORE COMPANIES ADOPT DEEP LEARNING TO ACCELERATE THEIR BUSINESSES…

  4. TOP 5 1. Artificial Intelligence Advances to Improve Construction 2. How to Regulate Artificial Intelligence 3. Massachusetts General Hospital Gets World’s First Volta AI Supercomputers 4. GE Venture Avitas Systems Uses AI to Help Robots Spot Defects 5. UC Berkeley’s Sergey Levine Explains How Deep Learning Will Unleash Robotics

  5. 1 ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE ADVANCES TO IMPROVE CONSTRUCTION In ENR’s 2017 guest column, Andrew Rink recognizes NVIDIA’s role in groundbreaking discoveries: “Deep learning undoubtedly can improve many areas of construction, but construction managers will need to educate themselves about the ability of technology to fix deficiencies that have come to be accepted as a given—the notion that construction is inherently unsafe, for example.” READ ARTICLE Source: http://www.enr.com/articles/42686-artificial-intelligence-advances-to-improve-construction

  6. 2 HOW TO REGULATE ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE The New York Times addresses Elon Musk’s call to regulate artificial intelligence “before it’s too late”: “I propose three rules for artificial intelligence systems that are inspired by, yet develop further, the “three laws of robotics” that the writer Isaac Asimov introduced in 1942: A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm; a robot must obey the orders given it by human beings, except when such orders would conflict with the previous law; and a robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the previous two laws.” READ ARTICLE Source : https://www.nytimes.com/2017/09/01/opinion/artificial-intelligence-regulations-rules.html

  7. 3 MASS GEN HOSPITAL GETS WORLD’S FIRST VOLTA AI SUPERCOMPUTERS The research team at the Center for Clinical Data Science founded by Massachusetts General Hospital has just received the world’s first AI supercomputer: “CCDS will build upon its groundbreaking research to develop a host of new training algorithms and bring the power of AI directly to doctors. “The trained neural networks residing on DGX-1 systems in CCDS’s data center are in a constant state of learning, continually ingesting countless medical images worldwide.” READ ARTICLE Source: https://blogs.nvidia.com/blog/2017/09/06/ai-assisted-radiology/?ncid=so-twi-dxsnfs-21244

  8. 4 GE-AVITAS SYSTEMS USES AI TO HELP ROBOTS SPOT DEFECTS The new partnership between Avitas Systems and NVIDIA yields high expectations for creating tools to deliver unprecedented video game graphics: “But making these drone inspections work requires processing large amounts of data — and that’s where NVIDIA comes in…Using this AI-enabled analysis, inspectors can understand industrial installations at a level that was never before possible.” READ ARTICLE Source: http://www.ge.com/reports/thats-hot-drones-high-powered-ai-technology-transforming-safety-inspections/

  9. 5 UC BERKELEY’S SERGEY LEVINE EXPLAINS HOW DEEP LEARNING WILL UNLEASH ROBOTICS Sergey Levine tries to answer the question, “How do you teach a robot to learn?” “One of the most important things is that you have to somehow communicate to the robot what it means to succeed…It’s not easy, though. Teaching a robot to learn, instead of to just recognize images, is more difficult than building a deep learning system that can recognize images. In reality, the learning process is a lot of ‘trial and error.’” READ BLOG Source: https://blogs.nvidia.com/blog/2017/09/01/ai-podcast-sergey-levine-deep-learning-train-robotics/
