  1. PREVENT BREAST CANCER WITH DIGITAL MAMMOGRAPHY Digitalmammographyis the most recommended method for screening breast cancer. It helps in early detection of cancer which boosts treatment outcomes.

  2. WHY DOES DIGITAL MAMMOGRAPHY SHOW? • The mammogram can show anomalies that may indicate disease. • Calcifications • Masses • Distortions • Asymmetry • Density • In case of periodic digital mammography, comparison of reports will be done.

  3. FULL FIELD DIGITAL MAMMOGRAPHY • Digital mammography is also known as full field digital mammography. • State detectors change X- rays into signals to create breast images. • Analyse breast tissues correctly through CAD. • It shows problem areas and decreases human errors. • Tomosynthesis or 3D digital mammography makes it easier to spot anomalies.

  4. PREPARATION • Book appointment after periods when breasts are not tender. • Take previous reports and images. • Avoid putting anything on under arms or over breasts. • Remove jewellery above your waist. • You need to wear a gown at the centre. • The breasts should be placed on the platform one at a time. • A plastic plate is pressed on the breast to flatten it. Tell technician if there is pain. • May be asked to hold breath for some time and be still. • The process is repeated for both breasts till images are taken from all directions. • Inform technician if there are breast implants, you are breastfeeding or need support for standing.
