Deciding how to treat a pest is not a simple task, the grower needs to take into consideration a lot of information: • Field information: crops, location, past activities. • Pest information: detected pests, severity. • Pest control options: all known ways to treat some pest. • Weather information: temperature, humidity, rainfall. Each one of these factors affect the grower's decision regarding to what is the best treatment that should be taken. We are developing a system that will help the grower decide the best treatment for his crops. We need to build a database from several external resources, a given knowledge base and real-time information collected by scouts. Then the system should process the information in real-time to simple and relevant reports that will be showed to the grower. • Our system goal is to provide Growers, agriculturist and such, real time information for a better decision how to prevent and treat the fields against pest. • The system is web based, supports English and Hebrew interfaces. • It will enable the users to login from their computers or Smart-phones (XHTML). • Display processed information, according to pre-defined rules and pre defined thresholds for all the relevant factors. • Will enable the user to save predefine report for quick access in future connections. • Display relevant data from relevant fields, according to geographical need and user’s permissions. BIRT System Architecture Googlemaps • Business Intelligence and Reporting Tools • BIRT is an open source Eclipse-based reporting system that integrates with the web application to produce compelling reports. • BIRT provides core reporting features such as report layout, data access and scripting. • Integrating Google-maps in the report: • Google-maps API allow us to embed Google maps into the system WebPages. • Pests measurements in our reports: User Interface: Generate Report: Generate report from pre-defined configuration or from specific selections. Meteorological Report: Showing temperature and humidity information Measurements Report: Showing pests measurements collected by scouts.
