Explore the near-real-time retrieval of wind profiles using a modified NESDIS algorithm operating on GOES sounder moisture analyses. The motivation behind this research is the necessity for height-resolution wind profiles. Currently, quality assessment is underway for the height-resolved winds. This work is a collaboration between Iliana Genkova, Chris Velden, Steve Wanzong, and Paul Menzel from the University of Wisconsin, CIMSS, Madison, WI.
