  2. What is a Common Denominator? "Common" Denominator just means that the denominators in two (or more) fractions are common, or the same.

  3. There are 3 Simple Steps to add fractions: • Step 1: Make sure the bottom numbers • (the denominators) are the same • Step 2: Add the top numbers (the numerators), • put the answer over the denominator. • Step 3: Simplify the fraction (if needed).

  4. STEP 1: Find the least common denominator.. 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, 24 10, 20, 30, 40, 50

  5. STEP 2: Determine what numerator will change. Multiply the denominators. 5 2 2 5 2 5 Tip: What you do to the Bottom.. You have to do to The top!! Tip: What you do to the Bottom.. You have to do to The top!!

  6. STEP 3: Now work the new problem.
