Mosaic of the boy Jesus is a memorial to First Lieutenant Arnold Harris Edmonds, who died in military service in 1941

May date to the early 1800s

IC and XC to right and left of Jesus’ head are shortened Greek for Jesus Christ

Carved into the front of the altar are the letters IHC – the first three letters of the word Jesus in Greek (sometimes shown as IHS)

Holding a scroll perhaps referring to his appearance in the temple at the age of 12

Given in memory of the children of Beach Chenoweth, Henry Edmonds and JelksCabaniss

Luke 18:16 – “Suffer the little children to come unto me and forbid them not for such is the kingdom of God.”
